Marketing Manchester, as part of the Manchester Growth Company, is recruiting for a number of strategic positions to support the promotion of Greater Manchester on the international stage. As the brand champion for the Original Modern city, Marketing Manchester is responsible for shaping the city-region’s identity and promoting its ambitions and narrative to a global audience. This is a momentous time for Greater Manchester, as it seeks to capitalise on its current trajectory, including the opportunities presented by its ground-breaking devolution deal agreed with Government. These roles will package the exciting story of Manchester – as the city-region builds towards its first elected Mayor in 2016 – by capitalising on its strongest assets, and promote Manchester to the world, to encourage people to visit, study, work, meet and do business in the region.
This role will support the Director of Tourism to strategically manage the promotion and positioning of Greater Manchester as the UK’s leading international conference destination and contribute support for the successful hosting of conferences in Manchester.
The Head of Business Tourism will
• Manage a dynamic business tourism team
• Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in destination management/business tourism at a senior level
• Have a proven track record of successfully managing teams and budgets and delivering tourism projects, preferably in a city destination
• Demonstrate commercial acumen and an ability to work in partnership across the sector
