To run the digital production team, based in our Manchester office.
The role involves managing multiple concurrent projects and so requires a thorough and detailed approach coupled with the will and proactivity to get things done on time.
The candidate will be required to gain a thorough understanding of the team’s skills and make informed judgements on which people are the most suitable to work on each project.
This should be coupled to good understanding of how long tasks will take to complete and managing multiple dependencies.
Ensuring the Production team are trained to the latest standards, understand their job roles and expectation of them and are working together to achieve project deadlines.
Time tracking and cost reconciliation, including provision of production reports based on time tracking and budgeting.
The role will demand excellent communication skills with a both managerial and technical staff and great quality control skills with a keen eye for detailed review.
The Production Manager will work directly with the Operations Director and produce detailed client quotes. The project will then be fully scoped out with key deliverables, timings, SLAs, a technical brief, wireframes and reporting requirements.
Job will be managed via Basecamp with the Production Manager responsible for delivering each stage on time, on budget and liaising with the client.
Each deliverable will be tested thoroughly by the Production Manager before being signed off at key stages with the client.
Post job reports will be essential with a summary and full handover to the client, including any training if required. The job will also then need to be handed over to Modern English’s Social Engagement team, with a summary of the job, objectives, work involved, analytics logins and link to the work.
Each job will then need to be fully time tracked and reconciled.
Monthly reports to be produced for the Directors summarising Production activity, time vs. cost reports, any training required, additional resources needed etc.
The Production Manager will report to the Operations Director.
3 years + experience in agency role.
A firm task-master to ensure deadlines are met and production quality is delivered.
Strong people management skills required to run a team of digital designers and developers.
Great time management both of own and others’ time.
Ability to create technical briefs (including wire-framing).
Highly organised and familiar with project management software (ideally Basecamp).
Experience in responsive website builds, mobile and social apps.
Client facing skills will be an asset as direct liaison is sometimes necessary in addition to regular liaison with account managers.
The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys technology, almost to the point of it being a hobby…so they may have their own site and/or blog, be active on the web, always learning and keeping up with tech developments.
A good list of tried and trusted freelance development resources would be useful.
Knowledge of SEO, meta tagging etc.
