Controversial Channel 4 series Benefits Street will not be returning for a third series.
The series hit the national headlines in 2013 when it followed life in Birmingham’s James Turner Street, making household names of residents like Deirdre “White Dee” Kelly.
Last year it headed north to the Tilery Estate in Stockton-on-Tees, but the series started with almost 3 million viewers, about a million down on the first run.
It finished with the heartbreaking death of Reagan, teenage son of estate stalwart Julie Young, who had been left seriously disabled following a heart attack when he was a baby 15 years before.
RadioTimes.com claims the broadcaster was considering a third series, but could not find a street or story inspiring enough to justify another one.
