The Fresh Group has appointed Asda’s former head of brand strategy as senior account director.

Steph Hughes had been at Asda since 2005, and has previously headed up its events marketing and in-store marketing for non-food products.

“Steph brings with her some amazing retail experience and crucially a first-person understanding of a clients point of view. She has over 20 years of grocery retail experience and her last 12 years has been gained in-house at Asda,” said Patrick Howells, MD of The fresh Group.

Howells has also appointed Sarah-Jane Johnston to a newly created position of head of the account team.

“Sarah-Jane is a passionate and strategic professional with over 20 years of experience within the events industry. Crucially for us, Sarah-Jane has B2B and B2C experience working in agencies, public sector and also venue side delivering a wide variety of events in the UK, Europe and overseas. What Sarah-Jane doesn’t know about the world of events is probably not worth knowing!” added Howells.
