Marketing Lancashire has appointed the former chief executive of Visit County Durham as associate director.
Melanie Sensicle set up Visit County Durham in 2006 having previously spent seven years at Visit Brighton, where she was head of marketing and assistant head of tourism.
She has been running her own consultancy since last spring, working with clients including Visit England, for whom she acts as programme director for the Northern Tourism Growth Fund in which Marketing Lancashire is a key partner.
She is a Fellow of the Tourism Management Institute and chair of the consortium of England’s Heritage Cities, who work together to represent the heritage agenda nationally and to work on joint projects.
Ruth Connor, chief executive of Marketing Lancashire, said: “Melanie has already brought her wealth of experience to the development of the new Visitor Economy Strategy and destination management plan for Lancashire, which will be launched shortly.
“Her strategic planning, support and experience of partnership working has made a significant contribution to Marketing Lancashire and, going forward, her insight and expertise will be a great asset to the team.”
