This year’s BBC Children in Need appeal raised a record £37,100,687.
TV stars Tess Daly, Dermot O’Leary (standing in for Sir Terry Wogan) and Fearne Cotton, The Saturdays’ Rochelle Humes, Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw and Shane Richie came together to present the showbiz marathon live across BBC One and BBC Two.
This year represented the first running of the annual extravaganza since the BBC moved the bulk of its Children in Need department to MediaCityUK.
David Ramsden, chief executive of BBC Children in Need says: “People of the UK should be feeling incredibly proud of what has been achieved this evening. Their remarkable generosity will go on to help us change a lot of young lives.”
Tony Hall, BBC Director General, added: “Thank you to everyone who’s taken part – doing whatever they can for Children in Need. But, most of all, thank you to all our viewers and listeners for every moment of support they’ve shown and every donation they’ve made.”
