NMA logo 2015The shortlist for the Northern Marketing Awards 2015 is revealed today.

This year saw another increase in the number of entries received – and even more engagement with brands and leading agencies from across the North.

The awards dinner takes place on Wed 21 October at the Hilton Deansgate in Manchester, with guest speaker John Roberts, chief executive of ao.com. It will be the largest single gathering of the North’s leading marketers and marketing agencies in 2015.

Prolific North is also delighted that The Northern Marketing Awards’ headline partner for the third successive year is leading digital agency Click Consult. We would like to express our thanks for their continuing support of our most successful initiatives.

Entries this year came in from a wide variety of companies, organisations, institutions and agencies from across the North – scroll down to see the short list.

Dozens of brands entered this year including Greggs, Northumberland and Teesside Universities in the North East; South Yorkshire Police, East Coast Mainline, Asda and Magnet in Yorkshire, and Redrow and MoneySuperMarket in North Wales. National and regional brands such as Kerry Foods, Argos, Irn-Bru, Interflora, Siemens, Peninsula Group, Richmond Sausages and Swinton Insurance entered, along with numerous regionally-focused organisations and brands.

We’re also pleased that even more of the North’s biggest Integrated agencies and Digital agencies from both sides of the Pennines chose to participate, many for the first time.

For those companies not shortlisted – huge thanks for your time, interest and investment in their entries, and we wish better luck for next year.

This year we are also introducing a post-awards party at the Hilton.

John Roberts

Our guest speaker this year, John Roberts, founded Appliances Online in 2000. The business grew and acquired a reputation for innovation and excellent service.

By 2013, ao.com had become one of the UK’s five biggest white goods retailers – who between them had over 60% of the market – and, as the only pure play online retailer of the five, established itself as the clear market leader in online with a 24% share.

In 2014 AO World plc floated on the London Stock Exchange and currently enjoys a market capitalisation of c£635m.

For the year to April 2015, according to data provided by Nielsen and media agency Mediacom, ao.com’s accredited media expenditure was more than £4m – but this figure excludes a large amount of online marketing activities.

John and his teams have built one of the web’s most successful UK and increasingly European brands during periods of challenging market conditions with a limited capital base. We are delighted he has agreed to join us at the third NMA dinner to share some of his experiences along the way.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday 21 October for what will simply be the must-attend event for anyone with a serious interest in marketing in the North.
