Citypress has appointed online journalist Mark Spence to lead its content marketing practice.

Spence joins the Manchester-based agency from Mirror.co.uk where, as head of content, he led a 15-strong team of journalists responsible for sourcing, curating and producing original digital content.

He will now lead Citypress’ creative services team of copywriters, visual content, search and social media specialists.

Prior to his role at Mirror.co.uk, he worked for Trinity Mirror in two different roles after spending a year in the United Arab Emirates where he was deputy editor at Time Out Abu Dhabi.

That followed his role as associate editor at IPC media in London, creating content for its men’s lifestyle titles.

The appointment follows client wins for the agency in the last six months including British Land Plc, Swinton Insurance, and Coca-Cola GB.
