From sport to children’s for BBC’s Claire Stocks

stocksBBC Children’s has appointed Claire Stocks to take on the new position of head of interactive.

She joins from BBC Sport where she has been digital development editor since 2011, one of the senior figures running the interactive team and platforms.

Stocks has worked at BBC Sport since 2000 and became high profile with the launch of the dedicated Olympic website.

She said: “It’s an incredibly exciting time to be joining BBC Children’s. “CBeebies & CBBC and all the wonderful stories and characters we produce have a place right at the heart of British family life. Our audience is changing more rapidly than any other sector and I’m looking forward to helping our teams find brilliant new and creative ways to serve those hungry young minds on digital platforms.

“At the BBC we also understand how increasingly important it will become to help give children a stimulating and enriching, as well as safe, start in their digital lives.”

Previously she took on a variety of roles and projects, which as well as helping plan and deliver digital coverage of the London Olympics, included the departmental move north to Salford and creation of a centre of excellence for digital streaming.
