Carl Wood has been appointed as the new managing director of the Liverpool Echo and of Trinity Mirror North West and North Wales.
Merseysider Wood takes over from Steve Anderson-Dixon, who has been promoted to group managing director of the publisher’s regional titles across the country.
Wood will have responsibility for the Echo and its sister titles in Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales and Trinity Mirror Sport Media.
He was formerly commercial director for Trinity Mirror North West and North Wales and began his media career in 1991 at the Liverpool Weekly Newspaper Group.
He said: “I am extremely proud and privileged to work with some of the most talented, professional and creative people in the multi media and digital industry.
“I am confident given the wealth of talent within the business and the passion, creativity and determination my colleagues and I have for it, that together we can create even greater value for our growing readership both in print and on-line.
“We will continue to improve the choice, service, response and results we provide for advertisers with this rapidly growing audience.”
