The Peel Group has acquired the eight-floor Digital World Centre for an undisclosed sum, extending the amount of space at its MediaCityUK development by over 70,000sqft.

The centre, next door to the Lowry Outlet, is currently occupied by 10 long-term tenants including Telegraph Media Group, Regus, Eagle Eye Solutions and Fast Web Media.

As well as office space, it includes a Nando’s restaurant and a café bar, Craft Brew. It was previously owned by Charterhouse Property Group and The Lowry Centre Development Company.

Stephen Wild, MD of MediaCityUK, said: “Acquiring the Digital World Centre is a fantastic step forward for MediaCityUK as we expand the choice of flexible office space and enhance the destination offering for visitors.

“With occupancy levels continuing to increase, it’s crucial that we maintain our commitment to providing small creative enterprises with choice and flexibility to support their organic growth. Equally, it’s essential that we meet the demands of the burgeoning number of digital and tech start-ups.”

Steven Underwood, chief executive of The Peel Group, added: “This is an important strategic acquisition for Peel and reaffirms our long-term ambition to invest in the continuing development of MediaCityUK.

“The Digital World Centre is an excellent addition to the portfolio and we regard it as an ideal complement to our purchase in 2012 of the Lowry Outlet shopping centre.”
