Rufus Hound (Hounded, The Wedding Video) and Ardal O’Hanlon (Father Ted, London Irish) have joined the cast of Russell T Davies’ new Channel 4 drama, Cucumber.
The 8 part series is about 46-year-old Henry (Vincent Franklin) and his boyfriend Lance (Cyril Nri), but their happy and settled relationship is shattered after “the most disastrous date night in history.” Hound will play Rupert, a man in hot pursuit of Henry.
Also joining the cast is Adjoa Andoh (Law and Order: UK, Doctor Who).
Meanwhile, the companion drama, Banana, which will be aired on E4 has also added to its cast, with Luke Newberry (In the Flesh, Lightfields) and newcomer, Dino Fetscher. They will both first appear in Cucumber with their story lines developing in Banana.
Filming in Manchester is currently underway on both projects and the digital spin-off, Tofu.
The 3 were commissioned by Channel 4’s head of drama, Piers Wenger and are being made by Red Production Company. Cucumber was originally developed by BBC Worldwide Productions, which will be distributing it internationally.
