Manchester Digital LogoManchester Digital, the independent trade association for the North West’s digital sector, has announced the 19 candidates who will stand for this year’s council election.

They include people from across the digital landscape – freelancers, banks, publishers and technologists.

Katie Gallagher, business development director at Manchester Digital, said: “It’s great to see a wide range of candidates for the election this year. As the Manchester Digital profile has changed over the last 12 months, it is important that this is represented within the council itself.

“The calibre of candidates is high, and it’s fantastic that there’s an array of strong personalities and ambassadors ready to take the association forward and play the important role of representing the sector and promoting its growth. I’m really looking forward to seeing the council results for 2014/15.”

The candidates are:

There are six places available on the council board to the potential candidates and once elected, the complete council of 12 members will oversee the work and policies of the association.

Each candidate will make a short presentation about what they plan to bring to the organisation during a hustings, at the 2014 Annual General Meeting on Thursday 10 July.
AGM places can be booked at Voting ends on Wednesday 16 July and results will be announced at the member’s barbeque at Atlas Bar in Manchester, on Thursday 17 July.
