Citypress has been appointed by Pilkington to lead its UK-based trade PR brief.

The Manchester agency, which won the contract after a competitive pitch, will provide a “content-led programme” spanning traditional trade media channels and the company’s digital platforms.

Particular target markets are the architecture, specification and glazing industries, and Citypress plans to use activity including video, printed collateral and media relations.

Ricky Ambury, director at Citypress, added: “The Pilkington brand is a household name with a pedigree for innovation that stretches back to the nineteenth century. Our role is to help ensure this famous name remains synonymous with cutting edge technology and design within an industry driven by research and development.”

Part of the NSG Group, Pilkington UK was founded in St Helens in 1826.

Its marketing manager, Anne Quayle, added: “Citypress has devised a multi-channel campaign that will strengthen and deepen engagement across our customer and stakeholder bases.”

Pilkington follows the Post Office and Coca-Cola Enterprises in appointing Citypress this year. The agency recently bulked up its London operation.
