As we’re on the brink of May, let’s have a peek at what’s coming up in what looks to be shaping up as a very busy month for the media, digital and creative sector in the north.

YorkDotYok – May 1, York
As the city previously better known for culture and heritage continues to re-imagine its digital future, the first major digital conference in the city is being held tomorrow. The idea is a line-up of high-profile people sharing “their personal and professional experiences of entering into the unknown”

Prolific North awards – May 1, Manchester
Well. what can I say? Of course it’s THE event for all working in this sector across the north of England. See you there, among the many hundreds of attendees! Full shortlist is here.

Medialab Session Playground – May 16 – 18, Preston
Described as “a weekend to develop a powerful and vibrant ecosystem around media innovation made up of media content, laboratory and testing, companies (and Dragons), and training.” this event follows similar ones held across a community of european media entrepreneurs present in France, the UK, Belgium and Switzerland. Thinking Digital – 20-22 May, Gateshead
The three day event sure to get your grey matter whirring for the remainder of the year with its 40 speakers and 650 attendees. Now in its 7th year, the event on the Tyne has earned a reputation for scouring the world for thought-provoking speakers across a wide range of disciplines. Full details here.

Reputation Matters – 22 May, Manchester
A one-day communications conference at The Bridgewater Hall to examine the increasingly challenging environment that communications professionals need to address in the area of reputation management.
