Satirical weekly political show, This Week, is being put out for re-tender to independent production companies.

The series, presented by Andrew Neil, is currently produced by Juniper TV, which won the 3 year contract back in 2010. This was later extended by a further year and will run out in the summer of 2014.

The successful indie will produce 36 shows a year from September and the period will cover the next General Election.

“This Week has a unique style and approach and we are particularly proud of its success. We very much look forward to working with the company which wins the contract to continue the programme’s long-running success over the General Election period and beyond,” said Sue Inglish, head of BBC Political Programmes.

This Week has an average audience of 1m and is broadcast on BBC One after Question Time on Thursday and repeated on BBC Parliament the following evening. It currently has the highest audience share of any weeknight programme at that time.

The winning indie will be announced in the New Year.
