Mammoth Events has won the contract to deliver the 2013 International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) Awards Banquet, which will be held on 13 November in London.

The IWSC, which was established in 1969, styles itself as the premier competition of its kind in the world, with entry submissions received from around 90 countries. The body aims to promote and raise awareness of the ‘quality and excellence’ of the world’s best wines, spirits and liquors.

Mammoth pitched for the contract in April against a number of national event management companies.

George Thompson, who co-founded Mammoth with his business partner Amanda Gilmour in 2012, told Prolific North that he had worked previously with the IWSC five years ago when he worked for Comtec and over the past year, they had reopened discussions with the IWSC which had led to their inclusion on the pitch list.

IWSC group operations controller Bev Steer said: “Our awards are steeped in tradition and it  is important that our partners understand the need to reflect this whilst also developing the experience for our guests.”

Thompson also confirmed that Mammoth has recently been told that the company has been reappointed to deliver the Lyreco Sales Convention and the Fragrance Foundation Awards (FiFi) in 2014 without the need for a tender process.
