MediaCityUK will be bracing itself for an onslaught of minor celebrities following the announcement it will host the British Soap Awards next month.
Filmed by ITV and regarded as one of the biggest events in the gongs calendar, the soap awards are traditionally attended by the casts of Coronation Street, EastEnders, Hollyoaks, Emmerdale and others.
The ceremony, which has run since 1999 and will be hosted by Philip Schofield for a fifth successive year, is normally held in London but is returning to the North West having been held at Granada Studios two years ago.
The nominees will be revealed later this week, with categories including Sexiest Male and Female, and Villain of the Year.
MediaCityUK will soon be even more familiar to the stars of Coronation Street, with the soap due to relocate there from its current Quay Street base. A number of ITV departments have already completed their move.
